How can I uninstall Yahoo Messenger but keep Yahoo mail?

Jean: How can I uninstall Yahoo Messenger but keep Yahoo mail?
Yahoo Messenger does now show up in the program listings. I thought I had found it in a long list of Windows programs (none of which used the words Yahoo or Messenger) which I uninstalled, but when I went back to Yahoo mail Messenger popped back up. Do I have to use another mail program altogether to get rid of Messenger?
