Dick S: I want to uninstall Yahoo Messenger and all its components. How can I do that when its not listed?
I want to uninstall Yahoo Messenger and all components. When I go to My Computer, Click add/remove option, Yahoo Messenger is not listed. Where do I find it to uninstall it?

Yahoo Messenger does now show up in the program listings. I thought I had found it in a long list of Windows programs (none of which used the words Yahoo or Messenger) which I uninstalled, but when I went back to Yahoo mail Messenger popped back up. Do I have to use another mail program altogether to get rid of Messenger?

Yes, you need to Un-install the current Y!M version to upgrade to Y!M 10.

Remember, Before you in-stall the New Y!M 10, please
do an Offline Search, in your Drive C, Delete the Yahoo Messenger Folder and contents.
Reboot your computer for a Clean Install of the New Y!M 10 version.

I’ve used Yahoo as my personalized home page for about a decade, along with Yahoo mail.
I do not want Yahoo messenger yet now it pops up every time I open my email.
If I cannot easily get rid of this I’ll say goodbye to Yahoo altogether. There are options.

You cannot get rid of the Yahoo programming, but you can keep the messenger service inactive. On your Inbox page, in the Chat and Mobile Text areas, click the blue link after ‘I am’ and choose ‘sign out of Yahoo Chat. You will remain offline unless you yourself change that setting.

You will Not loose your Yahoo! Mail account if you Un-install Yahoo! Messenger.
Merely Un-install Yahoo! Messenger…Use Add/Remove Programs to Un-install Yahoo! Messenger.
# You can do all of this Offline….
To do a “Clean Un-install” of Yahoo! Messenger:
click Start, click Search, type Yahoo Messenger, look in local Drive C, Click Search.
When you find the old Yahoo Messenger Folders, Delete the Folders and sub folders
Now, REboot your Computer.
You have properly done a Clean Un-install and Removed Yahoo! Messenger,
Plus you are able to Keep your Yahoo! Mail account as well.
